I am so, so tired. Work and lack of proper sleep have exhausted me this week. I realize this is mostly my own fault because I've been consistently staying up way too late. Part of the problem is that Bryon gets online around midnight (it's morning for him) and I have a terrible time convincing myself to go to bed when he's on. He does the same thing in the other direction; he ends up staying on til around 4 or 5 pm sometimes, which is 12:30 or 1:30 am for him. Oops.
Today was Bryon's birthday (also
riddled's - Happy Birthday!! :D). His birthday box actually arrived a few days early - it only took four days to get there! I sent him
Stargate - The Ark of Truth, a few magazines, the S-video cable he'd asked for, two Deathstalker books (also asked for), the completely awesome One Piece towel D/
destroyingangel got him in Japan, a Transformers kids' book from Christine, and a couple of snack items. Oh, and I also threw in one of the One Piece games I bought a few weeks ago for him to play on the PS2, which would have been really great except that I forgot
it's a GameCube game. Auuuuugh. *grump*
I am doing ok on my
Eclipse Special Edition Countdown Restraint (does that sound like a Sailor Moon attack or what? XD) although I'm not enjoying it. Today I did two things:
1) I bought
The Host. Did you know that everything in Target's book section is always 30% off? I didn't until today. I was already there to milk my brother's employee discount (a whopping 10%) for all it was worth since he is finished there tomorrow. I bought two more bookcases for the living room (that makes four; I'm going to have a book WALL.. wahahahahah!), and got
The Host and the three Harry Potter hardcovers I was missing all for 40% off! Woohoo!
2) I returned my copy of
Twilight. *sigh* I had gotten the book out of the library originally; right after reading it I bought both it and
New Moon, one with a 40% off coupon, one at full price. When I got home I noticed that
Twilight had a thin red line on the cover, perhaps from a pen, right across Bella's arm. Apparently she was slitting her wrist when no one was looking. Anyway I was trying hard not to let it bother me, but when I realized a few days later that Amazon would have it discounted, I decided that I would return the unread (but red-lined)
Twilight, and get it somewhere cheaper. (Unfortunately Target only has it in paperback.) It's even possible that I might decide to order both that and
Eclipse from Amazon when that comes out on the 31st; with the two combined I would have enough for free shipping. *shrug*
I put together one of my new bookshelves this evening (go me) and I've been reading a rather tawdry, really un-Julie-like book called
Paris Hangover, recommended/lent to me by my aunt. She says she laughed out loud at it. (Also, she knows it is total tawdry fluff. But it still made her laugh a lot.) It reads REALLY fast; I just don't like the main character very much. She's heading to Paris to start a new life and find a Frenchman who wants to have kids (her previous boyfriend wouldn't). I wish her the best of luck in her big venture, but I don't think we'd be friends really, you know? After this it's
Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal, because I need to return it to my boss. Then probably
The Host, or if the other two take me long enough...
Eclipse.
Wow, this is one long, babbly post. I blame the fact that I can barely keep my eyes open.
